“The main bedroom” means that only an ample space can create comfort and happiness in a room. It couldn’t go beyond the facts. In reality, a master bed doesn’t need to be extremely spacious. To be genuinely grand, it just needs a couple of things— and by grand, it means cozy. And think about it: what’s better than coziness? Nothing, coziness is above all.
A bedroom must compose of many things: the home of a comfortable bed with waterproof mattress protector, a space showing off your character, a place to read and relax. But importantly, it should be cozy.
There are a lot of ways to a small and cozy bedroom. Whether you like light pastels or heavy colors, lively designs, or textured solids, there are a couple of things you need to remember when building your sleeping sanctuary.
Here are 10 ways to make your small master bedroom not only grand but also cozy:
1. Anchor Your Small Bedroom Design
Begin by placing your bed in the middle of the most noticeable wall. Having your bed in the center will bring symmetry to your small bedroom design so you can make the most out of your room. You’re going to have enough room to leap from both sides under the covers. If possible, add two bedside tables.
Designer hint: Whether or not your bed has a frame, lighter walls to make the rooms appear larger.
2. Design for Touch
It is important to use comfortable layers and textures to make a space cozy. Apply insulation to mixed resources such as the down-filled duvet, grass wall cover, bamboo table, and Berber wool rug.
The sleeping room gets a soft wake up on the bed linen, pillows, and bench cushion from the cold splashes of celadon blue. Plus, Berber’s luxurious wool rug is a bare-foot soft-landing spot. The remaining floors of the bedroom are sisal and hardwood.
3. Envelop the Room
By enveloping the space with textiles, establish a hotel-style escape. A velvet headboard takes the rest of the wall. There’s nothing more relaxing than this while lying in bed. The bamboo silk rug echoes the plushness of the headboard, contrasted to the dramatic coffered ceiling by the gauzy draperies and bohemian, block-print bedding.
4. Remove A Nightstand (Or Both)
If you do not have enough room on your bedside, try to remove a nightstand to add more room to the layout of your small bedroom. It will enable you to push your bed closer to one side of the wall, and on both sides, you will still have some space.
If you want more room, you can remove both bedside tables, and use an overhead lighting shelf. You can place them in a small closet if you don’t have space for a nightstand.
5. Add Another Dimension to Create Floor Space
You can always reap the benefits of the height to make additional room if you try to make the most out of the limited floor space. When you don’t have the closet space to store excess furniture, this concept is also appealing. You can, for example, put your TV on top of a large, narrow chest, or you can eliminate the chest and install a flat-screen TV on the wall.
6. Place Your Rug Carefully
Do you think your rug is an afterthought? Should not be. Rugs can help make your small room look fuller, softer, and incorporate colors or patterns that tie together the layout of your little bedroom. Follow the lead of your bed to recognize the size of the rug you like. Slip the mat about 2/3 of the way below if the mattress is in the middle. Place the carpet next to it or under another piece of furniture if it’s in a corner. Read more about the right-size rug range.
Small bedrooms often have little storage space, so when you can, optimize your wall space by installing built-in bookcases with open as well as closed shelving. Additionally, a big rug will make space appear larger. So, choose a carpet that matches nearly the entire floor space while leaving six inches of flooring on each wall.
7. Enliven the Walls
In a master bedroom of 20-by-18-foot, the cozy factor is to cover the walls with a large-scale, blue-and-green tree motif. The heavily printed wallpaper makes the huge room feel more snug, while the clean white headboard and linen give the eye a place to rest.
A monochrome palette can do great for a tiny space, but can also look so much better for a high-contrast palette. Try and paint a dark taupe color on your walls while leaving floors in a white high-gloss. You can increase the contrast further by painting your door black.
Tiny bedrooms usually look better and more comfortable with warm dark walls with very little natural light. The key is to attain the ultimate moody and comfortable space with layers and soft lighting. The paper shades beautifully achieve this effect. You can even add vivid poster prints to a touch of color in your dark walls.
As far as the furnishings are concerned, choose all-white linen bedding to keep textures simple and add to space a few natural textures such as jute and warm wood. Scalloped bedding, covered in a bright aqua band, adds to space a preppy atmosphere and gives just a bit of color to the white bed linen.
8. Lots of Pillows
You want enough cushions to build a whole fort, and it’s entirely up to you if you start building a pillow fort. Even though you throw most of them on the ground, you have enough support you in any position when in bed. There are tiny, fuzzy ones, and rigid ones. You can even get all of them. With this one, optimum comfort is the goal.
9. Complement Your Four Poster Bed with Accent Chair
Unlike popular opinion, a four-poster or canopy bed looks great in a small space. Why? Because it draws up to the ceiling, diverting attention away from space’s length and width. Although you don’t have a lot of space for accent furniture, a simple chair or luggage rack will add loads of utility to your room. It offers a place to put your bag down in the evening when you get back.
10. Mix Greenery with Soft Textures
A low bed with tons of soft textures in tone-on-tone will blur the lines between bed and floor. It produces an infinity effect that can make your room appear larger, as in this Williamsburg loft. Even though you opt for a balanced monochrome palette, a bit of greenery can do great things to your space by bringing the outside in and introducing visual interest,
Remember: Small Layout, Outsized Opportunities
Do you have to have a smaller bed, dresser, and start over? Instead of trying to fill a considerable space, you can concentrate on a few perfect parts and unique details in small rooms. Your place should look more like a boutique hotel room with a little creativity than a shoebox. And it will fill each square inch with character. If you want more resting space in your bedroom, you can look for what is a folding mattress and how you can incorporate it into your bedroom.
